Centro Romero Updates - February 2024
This February, our Adult Education Program, in partnership with UnidosUS, celebrated the successful launch of a new “Digital Skills for Life” course. The class focuses on basic computer skills such as hardware, software and internet, and empowers students to tackle the technological demands of work and life.
Additionally, in February Centro Romero’s Youth Program engaged in the “Youth Organizing Workshop” hosted by the The Resurrection Project and led by La Casa Norte, Dreamers of Today, Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, Enlace Chicago and the Immigrant Justice Center. Both empowering and inspiring, the workshop solidifies our commitment to advocacy in Chicago, especially that which is led by the next generation, fostering a dynamic force for positive change within our community.
Finally, we held our most recent CityKey event on February 2nd, in partnership with the Office of the Chicago City Clerk, Anna Valencia. The day ran smoothly, and we are proud to report that we assisted over 250 people to obtain their identification cards. The CityKey is a central piece of our support network for newly arrived immigrants.
