This past July, Centro Romero hosted the annual Mujeres on the Run 5K in Lincoln Park. The event was a remarkable success, highlighting through physical accomplishment the strength and resilience of women, especially those within the immigrant and refugee community which Centro Romero supports. The work of the Centro Romero Women’s Program is integral and necessary to this mission, and the Mujeres on the Run 5k created a chance to celebrate this ongoing work. The race also served as an excellent way to bring the Centro Romero community together, demonstrating that we are strongest when we join together towards common goals. 

Centro Romero would especially like to thank 40th ward Alderman André Vasquez, Chicago radio host Liz Liz la Dama del Deporte, and organizations Kultura Urbana and Alianza Americas for their participation and support in the race, and for their role in making the event as special as it was. Through events such as these, Centro Romero continues its work to strengthen community bonds and uplift those whose voices have been silenced.
