English Language Acquisition (ESL)
- Our ESL Curriculum is aligned with the highest state standards, developed by our teachers and the program director. The program offers four basic levels of ESL that range from Preparation for English to High Intermediate ESL
- Each ESL level has a written curriculum which lists appropriate grammar and vocabulary topics in a suggested sequence and details the recommended materials and level-appropriate writing projects. Our sample lesson plans have been created for each level and are readily available and accessible for tutors.
- In addition, the agency has a substantial resource library with all materials labeled for the appropriate ESL level or special topic.
- Our tutors are trained on leading small groups on how to use the curriculum and various resources available. All tutors receive training in the participatory pedagogy of Popular Education, which aims to empower students in their classrooms and by extension, in their communities.
