Job Description Position Title: Janitor Position
Position Status: Part-time, 20-25 hours/week.
Reports to: Associate Director or designee
Summary of the Job
In a maintenance and cleaning job, staff are expected to meet established standards, perform tasks efficiently and safely, and maintain a responsible and proactive attitude. Flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail are also valued.
Specific Responsibilities
- Compliance with standards: Follow established cleaning and maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Efficiency and speed: Perform tasks quickly and efficiently, optimizing time and resources.
- Security: Use cleaning equipment and products safely, following pertinent safety regulations.
- Responsibility and proactivity: Be responsible and proactive in performing tasks, anticipating maintenance and cleaning needs.
- Attention to detail: Pay attention to detail and ensure clean areas are spotless.
- Flexibility: Be flexible and adapt to changing work needs, being able to perform additional tasks if necessary.
- Teamwork: Work as a team with other cleaning and maintenance staff, collaborating to achieve common goals.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members, reporting any issues or needs.
- Training: Establish a training plan to ensure employees are trained to use equipment safely and properly.
- Equipment maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment to avoid breakdowns and extend its useful life.
- Adaptation to biosecurity regulations: Ensure disinfection protocols are followed in any environment, especially in the post-COVID-19 era.
- Treatment of residents/clients: Maintain respectful and courteous treatment with residents or clients, showing empathy and understanding.
Additional Job-Related Expectations:
- Floor and surface maintenance: Sweep, vacuum, mop, spot clean, and polish floors.
- Bathroom cleaning: Disinfect surfaces, clean toilets, sinks, mirrors, and showers.
- Cleaning of common areas: Clean windows, doors, walls, furniture, and any other surfaces in common areas.
- Office cleaning: Organize and clean desks, shelves, and any other surfaces in the office.
