Building Bridges: Caring for Each and Every Member of Our Immigrant and Refugee Communities
In February of this year, Centro Romero’s Executive Director Daysi Funes, accompanied by Associate Director Diego F. Samayoa and Resource Developer Joseph Martens, paid a visit to 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman’s office. A longtime partner of Centro Romero, Alderman Osterman has worked tirelessly to support his community since his election in 2011. In their meeting, the group discussed how to use their partnership to best support the needs of the at-risk refugee and immigrant communities whom Osterman represents. Given his recent announcement of retirement, Centro Romero would also like to profoundly thank Alderman Osterman for his years of service and friendship, and they look forward to working closely with his replacement to continue their mission of aid and advocacy for the people of the 48th ward.
Events such as these with valued community partners and sponsors are tremendously important in strengthening community bonds, which in turn allows Centro Romero to continue its mission of providing meaningful aid to its clients and their families.
Additionally, Centro Romero would also like to highlight the recent visit from Sergio Yorki, a valued member of Centro’s advisory board, and Ilona Okulitch, a representative of Excel HR. The work they do in helping Centro Romero support Chicago’s immigrant population is invaluable, and the organization thanks them!
