Job Description Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator

Status: Full-time Salary Exempt

Reports to: Youth Program Director

 

Position Overview:

The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supervising daily after- school program activities. This includes direct service in an after-school program for children in grades first to second year collogue. This position supports the supervision of work-study students and volunteers. This position coordinates parent communication. The coordinator develops monthly activities that meet the project goals. This position supports the overall implementation, planning, and delivery of the program’s goals and objectives.

 

Specific duties include:

Service Delivery

  • Assess, screen, and recruit youth for the
  • Take attendance at the beginning of each day and make sure all youth sign
  • Coordinate and cultivate parent communication: Parent meetings, intake forms, behaviors, attendance, etc.
  • Collaborate with parents, youth, and schools to obtain target youth’s academic records, IEPs, behaviors, disciplinary actions, school interventions, etc.
  • Provide/coordinate academic tutoring services for participants
  • Provide/coordinate after-school programming, including diverse cultural, social, and recreational programs
  • Organize mentorship training, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and leadership development services to target youth
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of program youth, youth workers, and
  • Coordinate and maintain program supplies and storage
  • Assists in overseeing the program as a whole

Supervision:

  • Supervise youth workers and volunteers during program time
  • Supervise youth participants while they are doing their homework as well as during any extra planned activities.

Volunteer Management

  • Provided orientation to new volunteers and maintained related data for reporting
  • Assign volunteers to classrooms and provide activities for volunteers for one-on-

Daily Entry and Reporting

  • Attends meetings with partner agencies and funders
  • Collects and ensures the maintenance of program funders’ service data
  • Prepare programmatic reports for program funders and organization

Agency and Department Participation

  • Connects the goals and activities of the program to organizational goals and activities
  • Coordinates with other management staff to ensure organizational synergy and program implementation
  • Participate in staff meetings, the annual staff retreat, professional development training, and all agency activities

Fundraising and Advocacy

  • Assist in programs and organization fundraising activities, projects, or new
  • Represent the organization in advocacy efforts undertaken by Centro Romero

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree and /or experience in working with youth. Bilingual/bicultural (English & Spanish) required. Microsoft Office Suite Proficient: Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Google Drive: doc, sheets, slides. Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that met participants’ development and emotional needs. Skill in using positive discipline and guidance techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals. Ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with a team.

Demonstrate sensitivity to youth’s socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds and individual needs and capabilities. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed atmosphere. Ability to work in a team setting with other individuals and groups in a friendly, patient, and professional manner. Must be available during program hours.

Work Environment: The nature of our community-based work often involves evening and weekend obligations. schedule can vary depending on the need of the program, and some travel to off-site locations in the Chicago metro area. This job is an In-person position.
